Town of Truckee Yard Waste Program
The Town of Truckee Yard Waste Collection Program is effective year-round. To participate, purchase green bags from a local retailer and fill them with vegetative yard waste.
Tie the bags securely and place them on the curbside for collection, Duct tape works well to seal bags. Bags must be 4 millimeters thick. Please limit each bag to a maximum weight of 40 pounds.
Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal Company will pick up four bags a week on Tuesdays. You may place more than four bags outside. If you place more than four bags out per week, Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal Company will only pick up four per week but will remove them all at once if you call them and pay an additional fee.
Accepted Items include:
- Pine needles
- Pine cones
- Lawn trimmings
- Garden waste
- Brush
- Small twigs and branches
- Wood chips and bark
Non-eligible items:
- Large limbs or branches
- Food waste
- Pet waste
- Rocks and dirt
Green Bags are available at Mountain Hardware, Tahoe Supply Company and at the Member Services Office.
In addition, the Town of Truckee offers free yard waste drop-off days at the Eastern Regional Landfill from May 1 through June 30
Drop-off up to 6 yards (40 bags) of vegetative yard waste material at Eastern Regional Landfill, 900 Cabin Creek Road (Mon – Sat 8:00 am – 4:00 pm).
Multiple trips are permitted.
Proof of residence is required. You must live within the town limits to participate. Show a photo ID with physical address in Truckee or an out-of-town photo ID with utility bill.
If yard waste is transported in bags, you will be required to empty the bags to take advantage of free disposal.
