The Town of Truckee green bag program is going away in 2018.  Green bags will not be accepted after June 30, 2018.  After June 30 the Town of Truckee is moving to a yard waste cart system.  To opt in and receive carts click the link below.  In Tahoe Donner, yard waste dumpsters will be picked up every other Tuesday starting July 3.  Two alternative yard waste disposal options exist: (1) yard waste dumpster rentals and (2) drop-off services at the Eastern Regional Landfill. Yard Waste Dumpsters

Truckee residents can purchase up to two 6-yard capacity dumpsters for yard waste only. These dumpsters are intended to be loaded with loose yard waste material with no bags accepted. These dumpsters can accommodate garden waste, pine cones, brush, tree limbs, pine needles and woody material. Yard waste dumpsters can be ordered now. The first day they will be delivered is May 2. There are a limited number of reduced rate dumpsters. These dumpsters will cost $60 until June 30, 2018 and after July 1 will cost $70. Dumpsters are available until October 31. Call Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal at (530) 583-7800.

Drop-off Services at Eastern Regional Landfill

Truckee residents who had the means to self-haul yard waste material to the Eastern Regional Landfill (ERL) were allowed to drop off up to six yards of yard waste for free between May 1 and October 31, 2016. Again, bags were not required. Residents need to unload their material themselves once at ERL. In order to take advantage of the free drop-off, Truckee residents were required to bring proof of residency (something with a Truckee address – utility bill, drivers license, etc.). ERL is located just three miles past the mouse hole tunnel on Highway 89 and up Cabin Creek Road.
