Horsemanship camps and lessons will no longer be offered at Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center. The facility and programs will be going through a restructuring and resizing process so that the amenity can continue to provide core services to our members, but operate at less of a loss. Beginning this summer, the Equestrian Center’s main focus will be boarding, trail and pony rides and BBQ’s.
There are preliminary plans to offer a “trail day camp” on a limited basis. On select dates, we will offer a half-day program for ages 8 and up. Participants will get to groom and saddle/unsaddle their horse and go for a trail ride; upon return, they will get to help feed the lunch to the horses and listen to a short lecture on various horse-related topics. Keep an eye on our website for further details on this program.
For those students who are looking for riding instruction or the week-long camp experience, a nearby alternative is Piping Rock Equestrian Center. Located 5 minutes from downtown Truckee, they offer both lessons and horsemanship camps during the 2012 summer season.
