Fall Recreation Activities

The days are getting shorter and the leaves are showing their colors. As we prepare for colder weather and soak in the final warm rays of sunshine at the Beach Club Marina, let’s make sure to enjoy all the beauty of the season and events that are going on. Whether you want to hike or bike in Euer Valley, play a round of golf at the Golf Course, or have fun with the family at Fall Festival and Pumpkin Carving Night, Tahoe Donner is the place to be.

Below is a schedule of recreation activities through October. Also, don’t forget about fall golf promotions, and to purchase your ski passes early.

Fall Festival

Join us for one of our biggest events of the year! There is something for everyone at our harvest festival. Enjoy arts and craft vendors, doggie dip, fun run, beer tasting, pumpkin patch, kids carnival area with games and food, as well as a rock wall and much more!

Pumpkin Carving Night

Help us decorate Northwoods Clubhouse for halloween! bring the family down to enjoy Pizza on the Hill and a special movie while we carve pumkins. Pumpkins are free to decorate and will be used around the clubhouse. Or bring your own pumpkins to take home.

Not So Scary Haunted House

Find your way through our Creepy Carnival or play games and enjoy a movie, either way you’re bound to get a sack full of candy and prizes! The not so scary haunted house is recommended for kids with a low scary tolerance, good for the little guys!

Scary Haunted House

Keep your friends close if you dare to enter our Creepy Zombie Infested Carnival! If you can make your way out of this brain-eating adventure you’re sure to be rewarded with some delicious treats. Recommended for kids and teens who want a good scare this Halloween.

Friday Family Movie Night

Bring a pillow and blanket, kick your feet up and enjoy either a classic or new movie starting at 6:30 p.m. every Friday at Northwoods Clubhouse. Friday Family Movie Night movies are rated G and PG. For more information, contact Trout Creek Recreation Center at (530) 587-9437.

Kids Night Out at Northwoods Clubhouse

5 – 9 p.m., first Friday of every month
Kids 4 – 9 years old are invited to join in the fun with crafts, dinner, a movie as well as cookies and milk. This month’s featured film is The Lorax. Registration must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling (530) 582-9646. Cost: $15 per child.

Wii Night

Sundays from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Join fellow competitors for a friendly game of Wii. Try your luck at Wii tennis, baseball, golf, bowling, Mario Kart and much more on the big screen in the Northwoods Clubhouse. Free!

The Beach Club Marina and Aquatics



Though the weather is cooling down, the Beach Club Marina is a great place to spend a few hours in the sun with the kids or relax after a day of work with co-workers and friends. The Marina Snack Bar is open through the season offering snacks and drinks such as ice cream, chips, beer and frozen drinks. For those who want an active day, the marina offers kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., daily. Stop by the Beach Club Marina during it’s normal business hours of 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. before it closes for the season on October 7.

As Donner Lake cools with the dropping temps, Tahoe Donner Members and Guests have the option of heading to the Trout Creek Recreation Center for more fun in the sun and exercise. Swim lessons are available at a variety of times and levels including private and semi-private lessons. The Adult Swim Club at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays is a great way to get in your workout. Trout Creek Recreation Center’s adult lap pool is heated to 80 degrees and is open year-round. The Recreation Pool is the perfect spot for the kids play as parents relax in the sun. Used Bike Sale



The annual Tahoe Donner used rental bike sale is going on now through Sunday, September 9. All bikes have been professionally maintained by Tahoe Donner Bikeworks staff and are no more than two seasons old. Bikes for sale include front and full suspension mountain bikes, with a few other selected bikes.

Last Minute Summer Fun



This Week’s Top 10 Suggestions

The end of summer is near, but we still have a full slate of super fun activities planned for this week and the upcoming Labor Day Weekend. We hope you’ll join us before we start to wind down and shift schedules!

10.) Monday Night Bingo – Pizza on the Hill from 6:30 – 8 p.m.

9.) Bocce League – “A” league is Tuesday, “B” league is Wednesday. Both start at 5:30 p.m. behind Northwoods Clubhouse.

8.) Daypack Hike on Wednesday, August 29. Group will hike Old 40. Meet at the Recreation Info Hut at 9:30 a.m. Guided intermediate hikes are a great way to meet new friends and explore trails together. Cost is $10 per person and all guests are asked to bring a packed lunch, water and sunscreen. Pre-registration is strongly suggested, so please call (530) 582-9646 to reserve your spot.

7.) Wednesday Night Music in the Grotto – Emily Tessmer will play on August 29 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. outside at the last Music in the Grotto.

6.) Summer’s Last Blast Golf Special through Thursday, August 30. TD Members and guests can play 18 holes, including cart for $50, and 9 holes, including cart for $30, Monday through Friday, after 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, public can play 18 holes for $87, including cart, after 1 p.m., 18 holes for $69, including cart, after 3 p.m., and 9 holes for $45, including cart, after 4 p.m. Call (530) 587-9443 ext. 3 to book your tee time today!

5.) Friday Movie Night – enjoy the last Late Night Outdoor Movie of the summer. We will be showing Honey, I Shrunk the Kids outdoors on the big screen and Monsters Inc. inside Northwoods Clubhouse. Family Movie starts at 6:30 p.m. and Late Night Outdoor Movie starts at 8:30 p.m.

4.) Saturday Night BBQ at the Equestrian Center. Enjoy a special Western themed event from 5 – 7:30 p.m. on September 1. Play horseshoes, dress-up in costumes, take a wagon ride, make s’mores and eat a delicious BBQ meal! Reservations are strongly suggested. Call (530) 587-9470 for pricing and to reserve your spot.

3.) Euer Valley Shuttle – The first one was such a big hit, we’re bringing it back on September 1 and 2. For those who are unable to hike, bike, or horseback ride into Euer Valley, but would still like to see this beautiful property, Tahoe Donner Association will be offering a shuttle service into the valley. The shuttle is scheduled to leave from the Equestrian Center on the top of every hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and leaving the valley floor at the bottom of every hour from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Be sure to book your spot on the shuttle either online – please click on the events tab – or by calling (530) 587-9400 ext. 0 as soon as possible. Spaces are limited. Cost is $5 per person.

2.) Jason Wooley Band Outdoor Concert – Bring your own blanket and picnic, or enjoy food and drinks from Pizza on the Hill, Saturday, September 1, for the last performance of Tahoe Donner Summer Concert Series. The band is scheduled to play from 5 – 8 p.m. Admission is free!

1.) Turn your completed Tahoe Donner Trooper Guides into the Recreation Information Hut by Monday, September 3. Submit your photos for the Tahoe Donner Photo Contest by Monday, September 3. Email your favorite summer memories with a photo caption. We will select photos to be published in the October issue of Tahoe Donner News and on Facebook!
