Fall Recreation Activities

The days are getting shorter and the leaves are showing their colors. As we prepare for colder weather and soak in the final warm rays of sunshine at the Beach Club Marina, let’s make sure to enjoy all the beauty of the season and events that are going on. Whether you want to hike or bike in Euer Valley, play a round of golf at the Golf Course, or have fun with the family at Fall Festival and Pumpkin Carving Night, Tahoe Donner is the place to be.

Below is a schedule of recreation activities through October. Also, don’t forget about fall golf promotions, and to purchase your ski passes early.

Fall Festival

Join us for one of our biggest events of the year! There is something for everyone at our harvest festival. Enjoy arts and craft vendors, doggie dip, fun run, beer tasting, pumpkin patch, kids carnival area with games and food, as well as a rock wall and much more!

Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Northwoods Clubhouse
Cost: $15 for an unlimited wristband or $1 per ticket; food, games and ride ticket prices vary.

Pumpkin Carving Night

Help us decorate Northwoods Clubhouse for halloween! bring the family down to enjoy Pizza on the Hill and a special movie while we carve pumkins. Pumpkins are free to decorate and will be used around the clubhouse. Or bring your own pumpkins to take home.

Where: Northwoods Clubhouse
Cost: FREE

Not So Scary Haunted House

Find your way through our Creepy Carnival or play games and enjoy a movie, either way you’re bound to get a sack full of candy and prizes! The not so scary haunted house is recommended for kids with a low scary tolerance, good for the little guys!

Time: 5 – 8 p.m.
Where: Northwoods Clubhouse
Cost: Kids $2, Parents FREE

Scary Haunted House

Keep your friends close if you dare to enter our Creepy Zombie Infested Carnival! If you can make your way out of this brain-eating adventure you’re sure to be rewarded with some delicious treats. Recommended for kids and teens who want a good scare this Halloween.

Time: 6 – 9 p.m.
Where: Northwoods Clubhouse
Cost: Kids $2, Parents FREE

Friday Family Movie Night

Bring a pillow and blanket, kick your feet up and enjoy either a classic or new movie starting at 6:30 p.m. every Friday at Northwoods Clubhouse. Friday Family Movie Night movies are rated G and PG. For more information, contact Trout Creek Recreation Center at (530) 587-9437.

Kids Night Out at Northwoods Clubhouse

5 – 9 p.m., first Friday of every month
Kids 4 – 9 years old are invited to join in the fun with crafts, dinner, a movie as well as cookies and milk. This month’s featured film is The Lorax. Registration must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling (530) 582-9646. Cost: $15 per child.

Wii Night

Sundays from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Join fellow competitors for a friendly game of Wii. Try your luck at Wii tennis, baseball, golf, bowling, Mario Kart and much more on the big screen in the Northwoods Clubhouse. Free!

Your Holiday Fun Guide



We are really excited for the upcoming holiday period. We have snow and all of our winter amenities are open. We have some awesome activities planned for you. Check out our top 10 list of ideas!

1.) Winter Fun at Snowplay
We will be open from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. February 18 – 26. This is a huge deal, considering we are usually only open weekends. Parker the Penguin will be visiting and around for photos, and we have a great new picnic and fire pit area which is family-friendly. On a bright sunny day, Snowplay is a great place to soak up some rays.

2.) BBQ at Cross Country Ski Center
We’re breaking out the sausages and hot dogs this weekend! Come for lunch after your great workout. We’ll be grilling up chicken & apple and turkey New Mexico smoked sausages, served on a French roll with grilled onions, dill relish and sauerkraut for toppings. We’ll have all beef hot dogs for the kids. The BBQ will be open from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

3.) Winter Gear Sale at Downhill Ski Area
Have you been waiting all year to upgrade to a new helmet, flashy jacket or warmer gloves? Now is the time to check out the deals during our 30 percent off sale on all outerwear and accessories.

4.) The Pub Opens Early
From February 18 – 25 the Pub at The Lodge will open at 4 p.m. with food from the small plates menu and a wide variety of beverage options. The Lodge will open at 5 p.m.and guests can order off the full menu at that time. Best thing about this extra hour? Happy Hour is an extra hour Monday – Thursday. Come by for a delicious bowl of soup and hot toddy or nice glass of California wine.

5.) Pizza on the Hill Open All Week
From February 17 – 24, we will be open from 5 – 8:30 p.m. In addition to great pizzas, we also have burritos, tacos and delicious nachos on our menu. Feel like eating at home? Get your order to go – and maybe even snag one of our super deals like 3 for 2 pizzas this month or half price pizza hour on Sunday. Check out our specials!

6.) Build Frosty for Tahoe Donner
We’re getting close to the deadline for snowman contest entries. Get everyone together and build yours this week. Now that there’s snow in Tahoe Donner, we know you can do it, and we know that you are up for the challenge! Email a photo of your creation along with a short story about how you came up with your idea. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 9.

7.) Free Kids Events
Friday Family Movie Night, Wii Night and Trivia night are always popular with the kids. The February 17 movie is The Wizard of Oz and the February 24 movie is Underdog. Show time is 6:30 p.m. at Northwoods Clubhouse. Sunday’s popular Wii Night is from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Both movie night and Wii night are held at Northwoods Clubhouse. Trivia night is Thursdays from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Pizza on the Hill.

8.) Kids Carnival and Glow Stick Parade
The downhill ski area is the place to be on Saturday, February 25. A kids version of the Torchlight Parade – we invite all kids 10 and under who can ski or ride unassisted in the dark on the Snowbird run to participate! It’s free. The carnival starts at 4:30 p.m. in the base lodge, and kids will play games and collect glow sticks for the parade. All participants must sign-up in the lodge starting at 4:30 p.m. Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. This is a family favorite you don’t want to miss!

9.) Treat Yourself to a Massage
Work stressing you out? Did you come up to Tahoe Donner to get away for a few days to relax and spend time with the family? Consider adding a massage at Trout Creek Recreation Center to your relaxation plans! Don’t forget your bathing suit for a long soak in the spas, too.

Discount for Cross Country Skiers



The Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center has created a special offer for season pass holders at other area Nordic centers that are either closed or limited in their offerings.

An adult day pass at Tahoe Donner costs $25, but the Good Neighbor Pass Holder Discount has been offered for $17 to season pass holders at:

  • Royal Gorge
  • Tahoe XC
  • the Resort at Squaw Creek
  • Auburn Ski Club
  • Northstar
  • Spooner Lake.

The Good Neighbor deal is valid Monday-Friday for the rest of this season, with the exception of February 20. Present your pass at the ticket desk to receive the discount. For questions call (530) 587-9484 or email our cross country center.

“We were contacted by a few other area cross country centers to see what we could do to accommodate their pass holders, and we decided to offer them a deep discount,” says Kirt Zimmer, director of sales and marketing for Tahoe Donner.

“We’re competitors with these areas, but we also work together to promote the sport. We think it’s in the best interest of all that people get out skiing. The conditions here are actually quite good now. We hosted an international event this week with athletes from 13 countries and received a lot of positive feedback about our ability to pull it off when other regional events have been cancelled.”

2012 Ski-O World Cup

On Monday, January 30, the Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center hosted the 2012 Ski-O World Cup. World class athletes from 13 counries participated in the early morning race. Over 50 club level athletes followed in a separate start. This was the first major event of the season for the center, which opened for skiing and snowshoeing on Tuesday, Janaury 24. We have a variey of events and clinics planned for the season. Come out and ski with us!

MEMBERS  has a special focus on association business affairs.

Live Chat leads a Tahoe Donner staff person who can answer your questions in real time (during office hours), right on your screen. It’s the quickest way to get your questions answered. ShopTD is our online store.

Interactive trail map

With the new site, we’ve added a great interactive map for our downhill and cross country ski facilities. You can easily break down maps by trail type and difficulty, to give you more information and make planning your lines easy.
