Pho for Project MANA Community Dinner

Pho for Project MANA Community Dinner

Alder Creek Adventure Center, Alder Creek Cafe

Tahoe Donner will be hosting a community “friend-raiser” in partnership with Project MANA and tech start-up Kynbo on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Alder Creek Adventure Center and Cafe. Pho for Project MANA was created in 2017 to raise awareness about food insecurity and hunger in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee community.

Now in its second year, traditional Vietnamese inspired pho will be served to the community in a unique Pho Buffet dinner. Tickets for the community pho fundraiser are $25 per person and proceeds directly benefit Project MANA—North Lake Tahoe and Truckee’s non-profit food pantry.

It began last October when Kynbo cofounder Thao Doan’s Vietnamese mother Mai Doan, taught a handful of local chef’s, including David Smith of Tahoe Donner’s Alder Creek Café, the secrets of preparing the authentic and complex Pho dish. Working with Project MANA is a way for Mai to pay it forward by helping feed the hungry – the same help she and her husband received when they emigrated from Vietnam to the U.S. in 1975 with their seven children.

“The success from last year’s inaugural event had people asking when we’re doing it again,” said Julie Malkin-Manning, development director of Project MANA. “Now, back by popular demand, I encourage everyone to join us at the beautiful Alder Creek Adventure Center in Tahoe Donner for a fun evening of delicious pho prepared by chef David Smith bringing our community together for a great cause.”
