 Tahoe Donner Swim Program

Beat the heat with Tahoe Donner Aquatics and improve your swim skills at the same time. Both Trout Creek Recreation Center and Northwoods Pool offer recreational swim hours, group swim lessons, and private swim lessons to Tahoe Donner members and their guests. Lessons are 30 minutes long and sessions run for two weeks. All lessons are held at Trout Creek Recreation Center unless otherwise noted. To provide consistent, quality swim lessons participants must attend first three lessons of enrolled swim class. All lessons must be booked at least one week prior to class start date.

All cancellations and/or changes must be made 14-days prior to the first day of the session for which you are registered and a processing fee of $10 will be charged per session, lesson or program. No refunds will be given for cancellations and/or changes less than 14-days prior to the first day of the session for which you are registered.

Guppies/Parent-Tot

Children ages 6 months – 3 years will spend time with a trained instructor. Adults will be taught to help children learn water adjustment, use of supported floats, kicks, and assisted entries through instruction and games. This is a water exploration for both parent and child.

Level 1 – Bubble Blowers
Children ages 2 1/2 and older learn to adjust to the water and a swim lesson setting. Instructors focus on introducing the following skills: water entries and exits, bubble blowing, underwater exploration, kicking, arm movements, body position, and supported locomotion.

Level 2 – Starfish

Instructors will build upon prior water abilities by focusing on the following basic skills: floating, gliding, retrieving underwater objects, and unsupported swimming on front and back.

Level 3 – Duckies
Students at this level will learn the front and back crawl strokes. Instructors will introduce treading water, diving, rhythmic breathing, and promote water safety. Most skills will be performed independently.

Level 4 –Seals
Students will work on endurance during the front and back crawl strokes. They will be introduced to breaststroke, new ways of treading water, diving, and rotary breathing.

Level 5 – Dolphins

Students will work on improving existing skills while increasing endurance. They will be introduced to butterfly, competitive dives, and open turns.
Prerequisite: Level 4

Level 6 – Sharks

The objective of level 6 is to refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness over greater distances. This is also the time to introduce other aquatic activities. Level 6 is designed with "menu" options, including Fitness Swimmer and Personal Water Safety. Fitness Swimmer allows students to demonstrate etiquette in fitness swimming, use of equipment when swimming and to demonstrate various training techniques. Personal Water Safety will introduce surface diving, survival float, survival swimming and self-rescue techniques.
Prerequisite: Level 5

Session 4: Personal Water Safety Monday – Thursday, July 13 – 16 & 20 – 23, 9 a.m.

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons
Purchased per lesson. Our private lessons are designed to provide instruction for basic skills such as floating, kicking, breath control, and advanced stroke refinement. Instructors will gauge the level of each student and work with them at their own pace. Purchase of a semi-private lesson entitles registrant to a minimum of two and maximum of three participants per each semi-private lesson. Students may be no more than one level apart. All lessons must be booked at least one week prior to class start date. Private lessons can be booked from June 15 – August 21.
