Tahoe Donner Association Forestry Department is involved with programs that reduce the threat from catastrophic wildland fire and maintain the Tahoe Donner trail system.

Forestry department controlled burns

Throughout the months of October to December the Tahoe Donner Forestry Department will be implementing their annual burn program throughout association owned properties and common areas.

Please keep the following information in mind:

· Fires are ignited between the hours of 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.,
Monday – Friday.
· Forestry department crews check burn piles until 7 p.m.
· For your safety, please keep away from burned piles.
· Ignition of burn piles will start on permissive burn days and in
accordance to Truckee Fire Protection District regulations.

Individual property owners may also conduct debris burns on their property. The burning of piles in Tahoe Donner is allowed between the middle of October and December 31 – weather permitting. In The Town of Truckee the timing of the burning season is regulated by the Truckee Fire Protection District (TFPD). One must obtain a permit from USFS (US Forest Service), Cal Fire, or TFPD and follow all instructions before burning debris on their property.
