Trout Creek Subcommittee
Trout Creek Recreation Center is a private fitness and recreation facility for Association members and their guests. The fitness facilities include exercise equipment and classes, heated year-round lap pool, recreation pool, sauna, steam room, and three hot tubs. This amenity has the highest overall utilization among all Tahoe Donner amenities, with substantial usage spikes and increases during holidays and summer months.
The Trout Creek Recreation Center Subcommittee is tasked with creating an amenity master plan that provides long-term guidance for member use, management, maintenance and funding. This will incorporate input from members gathered directly, from surveys and other input activities.
The amenity master plan will provide general guidelines for the long term that allows for detailed planning year to year. It will be updated periodically in order to remain current with the needs of the membership, accommodate changes in use, and to allow for adaptive management.

Built in 1993 and expanded in 2005, a 2016 remodel of the sauna, steam room, and poolside locker rooms updated the finishes and fixtures throughout, provided improved ADA accessibility, and upgraded all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
On January 7, 2019, construction began on the two-phased renovation and expansion of the Trout Creek Recreation Center, to increase usable space, improve safety, comfort and member experience, and address overcrowding in certain areas. By removing interior walls and adding a modest expansion, this project will more than double available exercise space, and remedy the facility’s long-standing need to provide open space for stretching and other floor-based exercise. Additionally, an auxiliary classroom will be added to recoup floor space in the existing classroom, and to permit more flexible class scheduling.
Phase one on the pool side of the building is expected to take approximately six months to complete, with only minor workout impacts including a temporary entrance on the west side of the building. Phase two on the gym side is expected to begin in mid-2019 and take approximately eight months of construction, during which equipment and classes will be relocated to meet the fitness needs of as many members as possible.
During the winter season, Snowplay is offered to members and the public (for a fee) on the driving range which is located south of the Trout Creek Recreation Center and adjacent to the golf course. The seasonal amenity is dependent on the weather but can run from Thanksgiving until the beginning of April.
Member volunteers are being recruited for this subcommittee to create an amenity master plan for the Trout Creek Recreation Center. Membership on the GPC is not required to participate in this subcommittee – all members are welcome.
