New Cross Country Ski Center at Tahoe Donner

New Cross Country Ski Center at Tahoe Donner

After years of research, collaboration, plan development and membership review and feedback, the plans for Tahoe Donner’s new Cross Country Ski center is on the verge of final approval.

While the plans were scheduled to be reviewed in April by the Town of Truckee Building Department and Planning Commission, the Town of Truckee has recommended that the Planning Commission hearing to review the cross country ski center plans be postponed from the April 15 date for an additional, necessary review period. We will provide an update once the new date has been determined. The new date will be announced on the Town of Truckee website.

The sport of cross country continues to thrive and with limited space for retail, rental equipment, administrative offices and a small kitchen for food and beverage services, our current facility doesn’t meet the demand of our customers’ needs and now operates above capacity during peak periods. The plan for the new Cross Country Ski Center is designed to meet the changing and growing needs of our community.

Proposed Improvements:

  • Improved level of service for both winter and summer operations
  • Improved usage for school teams, young children and education programs
  • Energy efficient and environmentally conscious design
  • Enhanced rental facility and new public locker room
  • Improved parking and access
  • An architectural vision that reflects and contributes to the neighborhood and mountain location
  • Improved food and beverage service

Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center will continue to serve Tahoe Donner members, the community, youth programs, regional visitors and the XC industry as a whole.

The Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center will also continue to drive revenue to the town through sales tax, tourism, and product offerings.

No special assessment is required to complete this project:

The cost for the project will be paid for out of the capital funds portion of the association’s budget. Every year a percent of each member’s annual dues is set aside into the development fund; projects that are identified by the board are eligible for such future funding and paid for from this fund.

Please express your support for Tahoe Donner’s new Cross Country Ski Center:

  • Send an email to (please note: emails sent to this address will also be sent to all the Town of Truckee Planning Commissioners, town  council members, town staff, and Tahoe Donner staff).
  • Advocacy letter templates are available; email

More details on the Cross Country Ski Center plans can be viewed on our capital projects page.

April is $10 Pizza Month

Wow! It’s almost too good to be true! Through April 21, you can order any pizza off our menu, any time, for just $10. That’s right, choose from all-time favorites including cheese, pepperoni, or veggie, or branch out and try one of our specialties such as the Thai Chicken, Basil Pesto, or if you dare, the Kitchen Sink pizza! Just $10!

You can also choose to make dinner a hassle-free affair and grab one of our Take-N-Bake pizzas to bake at home. You can order any pizza off our menu or create your own. Come in to order and have a drink while we make it to your specifications. Don’t have time to wait? Call ahead to 530-582-9669. Any other month, you’d take $3 off the regular price – but for the month of April it’s just $10.

Have you tried our new menu items at Pizza on the Hill? We have introduced some delicious new additions, including baked stuffed mushrooms stuffed with Italian-seasoned bread crumbs and topped with melted mozzarella. Speaking of cheese, try our new fried mozzarella, made from hand-cut wedges of mozzarella, breaded in crushed cornflakes, herb bread crumb and fresh seasoning, flash fried and served with house-made marinara and raspberry preserves. We are also offering a new cheesy garlic bread made with French bread, fresh-shaved garlic and smothered in Grana Padono Italian Cheese, served bubbly hot and golden brown with a marinara dipping sauce. Those are just the new appetizers!

On the heartier side, be sure to try our new chicken parmesan, hand-breaded chicken breast dusted in Italian seasonings and bread crumbs, topped with mozzarella and our own marinara sauce and served over a bed of fettucine. Or, order our house-made, hand-rolled cannelloni made from sheets of fresh pasta, cut and hand rolled around creamy ricotta cheese, sautéed spinach and mushroom, topped with marinara and melted Parmesan cheese. It’s so good, you can’t tell where the pasta stops and the ricotta starts — it will literally melt in your mouth. Yum!

Please note, Pizza on the Hill will be closed from April 21-May 21, for kitchen renovations, including the installation of an additional pizza oven to enhance customer service levels during busy periods.

For questions, please call 530-582-9669 or visit us at Be sure to fill out a comment card to let us know how we’re doing!
