Tennis + Pickleball Court Improvements
Last updated on Aug. 3, 2026
WHAT IS THE PROJECT?
The project goal is to improve the experience for all users of the Tennis + Pickleball Center by providing dedicated regulation courts for both activities that address changing uses and safety concerns. The project also considers future impacts to the facility as the greater Tennis + Pickleball Center redevelopment project scope is created over the next few years.
The project will be phased over several years:
- Phase I:
- Reconstruct courts 7-9 with post-tension slab and convert to ten dedicated pickleball courts
- Reconstruct pickleball courts 9-10 with post-tension slab
- New 10′ sound attenuating PickleGlass wall, nets, and court separation fencing for the new pickleball area
- New permanent shade structures
- Resurface and restripe hybrid courts 10-11 to return to dedicated tennis courts
- Phase II – Reconstruct tennis courts 4-6 with post-tension slab, resurface and restripe
- Phase III – Reconstruct tennis courts 1-3 with post-tension slab, resurface and restripe
WHY THIS PROJECT?
Based on member feedback from multiple outlets over the last couple of years, staff has recognized a need to:
- Provide an improved pickleball experience and increase the number of dedicated courts;
- Make all tennis and pickleball courts regulation size (safety) and dedicated play without any hybrid striping; and,
- Separate disciplines for a more enjoyable playing experience for all.
WHAT ARE THE IMPACTS?
- Construction will impact a number of tennis and pickleball courts available for play for the remainder of the 2026 season:
- Pickleball courts 9-10 and Tennis courts 7-9 will be closed for the duration of the project
- Additional closures will be noticed as needed based on construction activities
- Temporary court closures may impact lessons, programs and court reservations due to reduced court capacity:
- 90-minute reservation limits; 30-minute extensions possible if availability allows
- Early registration recommended for lessons and programs
- Reconfiguration of courts resulting in 12 dedicated pickleball courts and 8 dedicated tennis courts.
WHAT IS THE PROJECT STATUS?
- Phase I design plans and permitting are complete.
- The board approved Phase I construction at the May 11, 2026, board meeting.
- Construction has commenced and is anticipated to continue into December 2026.
WHAT IS THE TOTAL COST OR BUDGET?
