Tahoe Donner Town Hall | Insurance Affordability + Availability

Tahoe Donner Homeowners Association (HOA), in partnership with Delos Insurance, is hosting an informative Town Hall to discuss insurance affordability. It will examine the impact of FAIR plan rate increases and options for homeowners in the private insurance market, specifically for homes in Tahoe Donner, with additional advice on home hardening and defensible space. Insurance brokers will be on site to help answer questions and provide insights about securing alternative insurance to the FAIR plan.

Tahoe Donner is at the forefront of innovative insurance solutions. The HOA has successfully completed and maintained significant fuel-reduction projects throughout the community, enabling it to obtain a first-in-the-nation parametric wildfire-resilience insurance policy, working with The Nature Conservancy, UC Berkeley and Willis. This has opened up more options for private insurance. Delos uses a science-based insurance risk model that accounts for fuel reduction and community mitigation efforts. Thanks to the community's commitment to reducing fuel, more affordable insurance options are now available to private homeowners who are members of Tahoe Donner.

If your property fits these criteria, then you may be eligible for insurance alternatives as part of this event:

• Tahoe Donner member.
• Owner-occupied as a full-time residence.
• For second homes, owners must be CA residents.
• No short-term rentals (long-term rentals accepted)
• No wood roofs.
• The replacement value of the house is less than $3 million.
