Season Passholder “Bring a Friend Week” – Dec. 13-21 (conditions permitting)

Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area will be offering a great deal for guests of season passholders. Season passholders may bring as many guests as they like and they’ll receive discount ski rates. Passholder must be present.

Time: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Lactate Threshold Testing – Dec. 13*

Take Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area’s on-snow test from 9-11 a.m. to determine the effectiveness of individual training and fitness plans with sports performance expert, Dr. Andy Pasternak. Analysis of results will be provided Sunday, Dec. 14 (or by phone). Reservations required 48 hours in advance.

Time: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

*Note: in the event of insufficient now, a makeup date is tentatively scheduled for Jan. 11 from 9-11 a.m. with group analysis the same day from 3-4 p.m.

Christmas at Tahoe Donner Cross Country – Dec. 25

In celebration of Christmas, rates will be discounted. Hours will be 12-5 p.m.

Equipment Demo Day – Dec. 28 and Jan. 28

Reps will have their latest and greatest equipment to demo including equipment by Fischer, Swix, Salomon, Madshus, Rossignol and others. Free with trail pass.

Time: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Snowshoe Tours – Jan. 2, Jan. 11, Feb. 8 and Mar. 8

Join our experienced snowshoe guides to learn more about snowshoeing, as well as our local environment and wildlife as you explore the trails at Tahoe Donner. Suitable for all levels.

Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Winter Trails Day – Jan. 10

A national celebration of winter fun, this event offers those new to snowsports the chance to try cross country skiing and snowshoeing for free, Registration is required at REI Sacramento.

Time: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Learn to Ski Weeks – Jan. 5-9, Jan. 12-16

Grab a friend and come learn to ski at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area. During these periods, two participants can learn to ski for the price of one! Program includes two lessons, two trail passes and two rentals. Call in advance to reserve space(s).

Skogsloppet Race – Jan. 19

Organized by our local school cross country ski teams as a fundraiser. Choose a 15km or 7.5km course with a 2km course option for 12 and under. Everyone is welcome and all participants enter the drawing for some great prizes donated by friends of the school teams.

Time: 10 a.m.

Ski Orienteering – Jan. 31

Organized by The Truckee Orienteering Club and is open to the public. First-time orienteers are also encouraged to attend; click here for details.

Full Moon Snowshoe Tour – Jan. 31

Join our experienced snowshoe guides to learn more about snowshoeing, as well as our local environment and wildlife — under the light of the moon. The evening includes a bowl of hot vegetarian chili and s’mores. Suitable for all levels.

Time: 6 p.m.

Learn to Ski Program for Seniors – Feb. 4,11,18 and 25

Cross country skiing is great for all ages, and this is a fun way for seniors to learn. This group is exclusive to those 65 or older. Learn at your own pace with our experienced instructors.

Time: 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Grand Opening of the New Cross Country Ski Area Building – Feb. 21?

Celebrate with Tahoe Donner as the next chapter of the Cross Country Ski Area begins with a brand new building. The party date will be announced soon, but party-goers will enjoy beer and wine specials and free appetizers to commemorate the event.

Time: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Tahoe Donner Challenge – Feb. 22

A tour or a race – you choose! 40km long course for the adventurous, and a shorter 20km course for the less energetic. Great preparation for those competing in The Great Race. Delicious lunch and raffle prize drawing for participants included in entry. Everyone is welcome and all participants are entered in the drawing for some great prizes.

Ski with a Local – Mar. 12

Calling all TDXC locals to come out and help us show Junior National competitor’s parents our favorite trails. Free with a trail pass.

Time: 9 a.m.

Junior Nationals Challenge Race – Mar. 12

Join in the fun while Junior Nationals are in town! Come out to race this fun 1.5km youth and 5km adult race for locals and visiting Junior National families and coaches. Race will be followed by wine tasting & appetizers.

Time: 3:30 p.m.

Parent Social – Wine Tasting and Appetizers – Mar.12

Sample wines from Truckee River Winery and Appetizers from TDXC’s kitchen. For Junior Nationals parents and “fun race” participants to mingle and meet.

Time: 5 p.m.-6 p.m.

Taste of Truckee – Mar. 22

On-snow gourmet food tasting event – ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and connoisseurs of good food. Beginners can rent skis or snowshoes at the Cross Country Ski Area and get a few free pointers from our experienced instructors before heading out to eat. A percentage of proceeds will be donated to our local Tahoe Food Hub.

Time: 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Tour D’Euer – Mar. 29

Celebrate spring with this 20-plus-year TDXC tradition of touring the Euer valley and re-fuelling at the Cookhouse. Delicious BBQ and live music will take place at the new cross country facility from 11 a.m.

Tour from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
