Gear Up for Golf Season

SEE WHAT’S AHEAD THIS SUMMER AT THE TAHOE DONNER GOLF COURSE
It’s never too early to get excited for golf. With spring just around the corner, golf season will soon be here. There is much to look forward to this upcoming season, including ways to start brushing up on your game now, calls for new membership from the community’s men’s and women’s golf clubs, registration for youth programs and so much more. How will your summer of golf play out? Read on to learn more about how to make the most of your season at Tahoe Donner.

Winter Golf Simulator
The course may be closed, but the FlightScope launch monitor and golf simulator located inside the Pro Shop is open to members and the public through April 28. Whether you want to practice on your own, enjoy with friends (up to three) or take a lesson from a PGA-affiliated instructor, the state-of-the-art simulator is an ideal way to continue improving or enhancing your skills in the off-season.

Fair Weather on the Fairways
With a more moderate winter, Tahoe Donner is anticipating optimal course conditions this upcoming season. “I’m excited to begin working on the course this spring,” says Ram Sena, head of golf course maintenance. “With fewer big storms this winter, we’re hoping to have an earlier start to the season than last year, while anticipating prime conditions on the fairways and greens.”

Men’s + Women’s Golf Clubs
Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the sport and looking to meet new friends and fellow golfers, the men’s, women’s and women’s 9-holer golf clubs are always seeking new members to come out and enjoy friendly rounds, special tournament events, socials and more. Tahoe Donner’s golf clubs are already hard at work finalizing their upcoming calendars, with some events underway this month and next. The Women’s 9-Holer Club has begun its membership drive, and the Women’s Golf Club will head to Sacramento for NCGA play days starting April 15. A welcome social is also planned for all golf clubs, their members and partners on Sunday, May 26, to celebrate the start of the season.

Junior Golf Programs
From lessons, clinics, summer camp sessions with the Junior Golf School, weekly course play with the Junior Golf Club and PGA Junior League competitions with the travel golf team, kids ages 7-17 can enjoy various opportunities to develop their golf skills and a lifelong passion for the sport. Welcome to all levels of golfers, the summer programs provide excellent opportunities for kids to refine their game on a challenging course with expert guidance from PGA-certified instructors and coaches. Note that registration for golf camps for members and the public begins at 11AM on March 21 on ShopTD.

For kids interested in playing on the Junior Golf Club home and traveling teams, all team golfers must register with the PGA Junior League beginning April 10. Visit the website to learn more about all junior golf programs and the junior golf club.

An Enhanced Dining Experience at The Lodge Restaurant & Pub
Following your round, head to The Lodge Restaurant & Pub to enjoy a refreshing cafe lunch, craft cocktails, premium wines or crisp draft beer on the newly renovated Lodge Pavilion, featuring an expanded dining area, cozy fireside seating and more. Back by popular demand, on Friday evenings during the summer, discover a more festive outdoor dining experience with live music and dinner specials on The Pavilion, or savor the seasonal menu offered inside every Wednesday through Sunday.

Additional Golf Course Enhancements
As Tahoe Donner continues to enhance the experience at the golf course, visitors can now enjoy improved ADA accessibility with new ADA parking stalls and a safer walking path to the lower entrance of the clubhouse and The Lodge Pavilion. Tahoe Donner also plans to renovate the golf cart path, including repaving, re-routing or widening paths as needed. As always, the association seeks to minimize any impacts to the golf season.
