Trout Creek Rec Center Pool/Spa Renovations
WHAT IS THE PROJECT?
Renovations will take place to update the Trout Creek Rec Center pool/spa mechanical room and pool deck hydronics. Improvements will include:
- Removal and replacement of boilers, pumps, filters, chemical treatment systems and associated infrastructure in the mechanical room and the deck hydronic system.
- Improvement of pool mechanical room ventilation, wiring, and chemical storage areas.
- Removal and replacement of the pool deck hydronic snow melt system and expanding its coverage.
- Remove existing Lap Pool deck pavers and completely replace with new pavers.
- Improvements to the Lap Pool deck drainage system.
WHY THIS PROJECT?
Pool Mechanical Room Updates
- The existing pool room’s mechanical systems have exceeded their useful life and need replacement.
- The system operates the Recreation Pool, Lap Pools, Kiddie Pool, Spa 1, Spa 2 and Covered Spa.
- Upgrading the pool mechanic room infrastructure will enhance routine maintenance, monitoring and safety measures.
Deck Hydronic System + Pool Pavers Replacement
- The hydronic snow melt system experienced catastrophic failure this past winter and has exceeded its useful life.
- The system mitigates ice and snow around the Lap Pool, Spa 1 and Spa 2.
- Replacement is required before winter 2025/26 operations.
WHAT ARE THE IMPACTS?
- The mechanical room renovation will require a complete shutdown of all pools and spas at Trout Creek Rec Center for the duration of work.
- Deck hydraulic system replacement will require full closure of the deck area of the Lap Pool and Spa 1 and 2 for the duration of work.
- Work will be done simultaneously in the mechanical room and on the deck system to minimize member impact and reduce all work to a single construction period.
- All pools and spas will close on Sept. 2, 2025. A three-and-a-half-month closure is anticipated to complete the project.
WHAT IS THE STATUS?
- The board approved the construction project at the May 13, 2025, regular board meeting.
- The project is scheduled to start Sept. 2, 2025.
- Depending on weather conditions, the Northwoods Pool may remain open until October to accommodate members.
WHAT IS THE TOTAL COST OR BUDGET?
- The project will cost $542,000 from the Replacement Reserve Fund.
