SHORT-TERM TENANT ACCESS

Starting in 2025, owners of short-term rental (STR) properties registered with both the Town of Truckee and Tahoe Donner have the option to participate in a program that provides access to private amenities. Here are the key details:

  • Eligibility: STR property owners who are registered with both the Town of Truckee and the Tahoe Donner Compliance Office.
  • Short-Term Tenant Cards: Owners can receive up to six transferable Short-Term Tenant Cards per property annually. Short-Term Tenant Cards are valid January 1 through December 31 and require yearly renewal and grant short-term tenants access to private amenities.
  • Annual Administration Fee: A fee of $90 is required to verify and activate the Short-Term Tenant Cards (this is a flat fee, not a per-card charge).
  • Access to Private Amenities: Each Short-Term Tenant Card provides access to one individual (ages 3+) per day to private amenities; a Daily Access Fee is required for entry.
  • Private Amenity Access Blackouts + Limitations: To prioritize member access during the holidays, Short-Term Tenant Card blackouts are being implemented for private amenities on the following dates:
    • Jan 17-19 (MLK Day)
    • Feb 14-16 (President’s Day)
    • May 23-25 (Memorial Day)
    • July 1-5 (July 4th)
    • Sept 5-7 (Labor Day)
    • Nov 26-29 (Thanksgiving Day)
    • Dec 24-Jan 3, 2027 (Christmas/New Year’s holiday)
  • Access to Public Amenities: Short-term tenants are welcome at public amenities with no blackout dates. Short-term tenants do not qualify for personal guest discounts and are considered public when participating in public amenity offerings.

This program enables short-term rental property owners to offer their short-term tenants access to Tahoe Donner’s private amenities.

The use of short-term tenant cards went into effect on Jan. 1, 2025, and must be renewed annually. Expired Transferable Guest Cards presented thereafter at amenities will be collected by staff and removed from circulation.

The Short-Term Tenant Card program is optional, and Short-Term Rental (STR) property owners are not required to provide them for their renters.
