WINTER WEATHER WARNING: Heavy snow in the forecast through early next week. Carry chains and drive cautiously. Be prepared.
Tahoe Donner created the Tahoe Donner Giving Fund (TDGF) in early 2015, a new non-profit program designed to make charitable contributions to benefit the greater Truckee/North Tahoe area. Participating in TDGF is on a volunteer basis and contributions are tax deductible. No funding comes from the Tahoe Donner Homeowner’s Association.
Administered by a board committee, the Tahoe Donner Giving Fund Operations and Grant committee, which is made up of Tahoe Donner members in good standing who recommend support for the following local areas of interest:
• Health and Human Services
• Environment, Conservation and Animal Welfare
• Education and Youth Development
• Arts and Culture
The board appointed the initial committee members to include: Merle Fajans and Dick Gander as Co-Chairs, Barbara Czerwinski, Marilyn Disbrow, Jennifer Jordan, Suzanne Sullivan, and Norm Nicholls. There are three open seats on the committee; contact Dick Gander at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer.
The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF) provides all legal, accounting and investment services for the TDGF. In addition, they assist with the grant process to local non-profit organizations.
Given the large size of the Tahoe Donner membership, it will be possible to make a substantial contribution to local charities with even small contributions from individual members – if a significant percentage of homeowners choose to participate. The Tahoe Donner Giving Fund has the potential to be one of the largest charitable funds in the area, giving community support to programs that need it the most. Tahoe Donner and the TDGF committee look forward to the endless possibilities coming to the community this year.
