ALDER CREEK ADVENTURE CENTER RETAIL + DINING OPEN THIS WEEKEND
Even though Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center’s opening day is on hold, there’s still plenty to get excited about at Alder Creek Adventure Center this Thanksgiving weekend.
TDXC staff will be on hand Friday, November 28, through Sunday, November 30, from 11AM to 5PM. The retail store will open its doors with all-new XC clothing for the upcoming season, as well as last year’s leftover apparel and demo skis on sale at huge discounts. After shopping, you can also activate your 2025/26 season pass and visit Alder Creek Cafe to check out the new and delicious small-plate sampler menu (11AM–3PM) and all-day Happy Hour, until 5PM.

The 2025/26 winter season marks the 40th Anniversary of the Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center (TDXC), one of North America’s most celebrated Nordic ski destinations. Established in 1985 by visionaries Peter Werbel and American biathlete and former Olympian Glenn Jobe, their trail-blazing efforts laid the foundation for TDXC’s vast trail system, including the iconic Euer Valley. Today, TDXC boasts over 100 kilometers of trails amidst the breathtaking Sierra Nevada, offering the most accessible terrain to the broadest range of skiers, from beginners to experts.
Recognized as a Top 5 Cross Country Ski Area in North America by USA Today, TDXC features learning programs for all levels from youth skiers to adults, a top-notch team of professional instructors—sometimes including Jobe himself—as well as an equipment rental and demo center. Tahoe Donner is widely recognized as the premier facility for veterans to train, and for newcomers to fall in love with the sport and community.
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING AND SNOWSHOEING
Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center spans more than 2,800 acres in the beautiful Sierra Nevada. When the resort is fully open, over 100 km of XC ski and snowshoe trails meander through meadows, over creeks and up to stunning alpine views. State-of-the-art grooming machines prepare the trails daily for classic and skate skiing. Snowshoe trails are marked and packed when conditions permit. Trail Passes are required to access the trails and terrain within the Ski Area Boundary.
