Tahoe Donner Volunteer Trail Days

May 4: Plant Sugar Pine Trees

Working collaboratively with the Sugar Pine Foundation and Tahoe Donner Forestry department, volunteers have the opportunity to plant Sugar Pines in Tahoe Donner. Contact the Sugar Pine Foundation at www.sugarpinefoundation.org or the Forestry Department at (530) 587-9432.

May 4: Golf Course Clean Up Day

Work side-by-side with Tahoe Donner Golf Club members to clean up the rough and outer areas on the golf course. Participants will meet golf maintenance staff and club members at the Golf Course Pro Shop at 8:30 a.m. where instructions will be given for the day. June 1: Truckee Clean Up Day

This is an annual Truckee town-wide event for residents to focus on cleaning up their streets and community followed by a huge family BBQ at the Regional Park in downtown Truckee. Tahoe Donner participants should meet at Z’s Market at 8 a.m. to check-in with event organizers to get Truckee Day t-shirts and instructions. For more information go to www.truckeeday.org.

June 22: Kick-off Trail Day

9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In conjunction with Tahoe Donner’s Friends of the Trails Club and the Hiking Club, the Tahoe Donner Trail department is seeking volunteers for the summer trail days. We hope you will consider getting involved! Contact the Trail department for more information and to sign up. Visit www.tahoedonner.com/trails for ongoing trail dates and times.

June 22: Downhill Ski Area Clean Up

Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area and our Senior Alpine Ski Club invite all interested participants to join them in cleaning up the ski hill followed by a volunteer appreciation lunch. Activities run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Park in the ski lots and take the shuttle to the ski lodge.

July 20: Alder Creek Meadow Clean Up

Join the Trail staff, Friends of the Trails Club and Tahoe Donner Hiking Club to help clean up Alder Creek Meadow just above the Equestrian Center from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants should park at the Equestrian Center and then follow the Euer Valley Loop trail approximately one mile to Alder Creek Meadow.

October 20: 18th Annual Truckee River Day

Join us for a day of river, meadow and wetland restoration. Work side-by-side with other volunteers to plant restoration sites with seedlings and willows, remove invasive vegetation, compost and mulch sensitive areas, remove garbage and more. Start at either 9 or 11 a.m. (weather dependent) and end between 2 and 3 p.m. Registration with the Tahoe Donner Forestry department at (530) 587-9432 is required and will open approximately one month prior to Truckee River Day 2013. After the day’s work, join the rest of Truckee River Day participants at the River Fair to celebrate the Truckee River!
