Snowshoeing is easy to learn and is a great activity for the entire family to experience together. We offer private lessons and tours for individuals and groups to learn basic skills and gain knowledge about the local flora and fauna from one of our friendly guides.

A day pass is required to use the trails in the winter.

Walking without snowshoes or skis is not allowed as foot traffic damages the snow surface for skiers. Alder Creek Adventure Center stocks an extensive rental fleet of snowshoes, snow boots and adjustable snowshoe poles for rent. For maximum comfort, we recommend you bring and wear your own hiking/snow boots.

PURCHASE PRODUCTS AHEAD – to guarantee your ski or snowshoe experience.  We often sell out on busy weekends and holiday periods.

Enjoy the tranquility of 11 km of singletrack trail specially designed for snowshoers of all ages.

The ‘singletrack’ snowshoe trails avoid skier traffic and access some of the most scenic spots of the Tahoe Donner trail system. These are groomed by snowmobile when conditions allow.

Snowshoers are also welcome to explore any of our 100 km of ski trails at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. If you are snowshoeing on a ski trail, please keep to the edges of the trails for safety.  Many skiers are traveling fast on the trails, especially on hills.

Please also be careful not to snowshoe in the striding tracks or in the middle of the skating lanes.

SNOWSHOE ETIQUETTE
Snowshoers are expected to walk on the outside edges of groomed trails.
