Summer Trails Events

Tahoe Donner Volunteer Trail Days: June 21 and September 13, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Are you interested in making a difference in your own neighborhood and helping to improve our trail system? In conjunction with the Friends of Tahoe Donner Trails club and the Tahoe Donner Hiking Club, the Tahoe Donner trails department is seeking volunteers for the summer trail days. Lunch is provided. Join the Trails Department and our Trails Club on June 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the first volunteer trail building and repair day of the season. We will assemble at the Northwoods Clubhouse before walking out to the work site on the Nature Trail. The event will conclude with lunch. For details and up-to-date information please visit

Alder Creek Meadow Clean up: July 19, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Join the trails department, Friends of Tahoe Donner Trails club and Tahoe Donner Hiking Club to help clean up Alder Creek Meadow just above the Equestrian Center. Participants should park at the Equestrian Center and then follow the Euer Valley Loop trail approximately one mile to Alder Creek Meadow.

Tahoe Donner Invasive Weed Walk:  Aug, 2, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., lunch to follow

Join the Friends of Tahoe Donner Trails and the Truckee River Watershed Council’s Weed Warriors for an educational invasive week walk here in Tahoe Donner. We’ll visit multiple sites, carpooling from place to place, and walking out short distances to see a variety of infestations. 19th Annual Truckee River Day: Oct.  19, 9 a.m.

Join us for a day of river, meadow and wetland restoration. Work side-by-side with other volunteers to plant restoration sites with seedlings and willows, remove invasive vegetation, compost and mulch sensitive areas, remove garbage and more. Start at either 9 or 11 a.m. (weather dependent) and end between 2 and 3 p.m. Registration with the Tahoe Donner Forestry department at 530-587-9432 is required and will open approximately one month prior to Truckee River Day 2014. After the day’s work, join the rest of Truckee River Day participants at the River Fair to celebrate the Truckee River!
