WHAT IS THE PROJECT?

Euer Valley Restoration Project includes the improvement and restoration of Coyote Crossing with a new bridge installed across the creek and a boardwalk installed in the wetland area of the trail. Significant work will be done to restore the damaged wetland to its natural habitat.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

  • This project, while in the works for some time, has been put into motion through a partnership with the Truckee River Watershed Council.
  • The restoration of the wetland area will return a sensitive zone back to its natural habitat. The deterioration from human use throughout the years and cattle grazing from previous property owners also damaged the area.
  • The creek will return to its natural state with an elevated trail, allowing water to flow like it used to.
  • For members, this project will allow users to utilize the Euer Valley Trail all year; usually, the springtime renders this section of the trail too wet to use.

WHAT ARE THE IMPACTS?

Closures begin the week of June 23 and are expected to last through October 2025.

The following areas will be completely closed during construction:

  • S. Euer Valley Road, Hidden Gem and Giddy from June 23-30, occasional temporary closures, and an extended closure TBD in the fall
  • Fool’s Gold Trail
  • Coyote Crossing

For your safety and the success of these long-term trail improvements, please stay off closed trails and respect all signage.

WHAT IS THE STATUS?

  • In April 2025, the Board approved various agreements with the Truckee River Watershed Council and the construction contract with Madole Construction for the construction of the bridge and boardwalk components.
  • Construction is scheduled to commence in late June and will continue through Oct. 2025.
  • Tahoe Donner is implementing a comprehensive communication plan to keep Tahoe Donner members informed on project impacts.

WHAT IS THE TOTAL COST?

  • Tahoe Donner funded $176,500 from Replacement Reserve Funds for soft costs, including wetland delineation and other studies in 2021.
  • The Truckee River Watershed Council has funded additional soft costs and expenses in the amount of $444,452 provided by grant funding through various sources.
  • The total construction cost, including an approximate 15% contingency, is $3,014,348.
  • The partnership match from the Truckee River Watershed Council for construction is $2,539,348, provided by grant funding through various sources.
  • Tahoe Donner will fund $475,000 for construction costs in 2025 through the Replacement Reserve Fund.
